My work comments on and questions femininity, sexuality, and my role as a female through the use of blunt statements, suggestive imagery, and material choices. I am interested in the confrontation of the oppressed and the repressed, often culminating in a general sense of unease within my work. Contingent upon balance and structural integrity, my work oscillates between permanence and fragility, competence and inadequacy. There is often an element of precarity - the possibility of something tipping over or a line snapping, causing the self-sufficient body to collapse. Operating between a triangulation of materiality, language, and gender, my work emphasizes and dismantles gender expectations.
