Translating poetics into material and vice versa, this recent body of work examines the ideas, notations, romanticizations and narrative surrounding landscape culture and lore. Whereas pieces like Rose for Opposing Wall I (2015) restrict the sentimentality and otherwise luxury into a likeness, Long Island (Topiary) presents the formal representation of an elephant with the actual material: chamomile. Quilted pieces like "Whisk Jungle" and "New Frontiers and Old Friends" are the subjects as well as the scenes, foreground and background become one and then separate once more: the scene is somethings subjects, the subjects sometimes settings.
