Advanced Fiber Studio (Highlights)
The process of creating ultimately leads to the investigation of my own identity: what I construct in each piece is a direct response to how memories form, are retained, and deteriorate- in turn producing my own personal narrative. Relying on obscurity, ambiguous elements become signs of absence and longing. Spaces become demonstrations of institutionalized norms. Objects within these found spaces serve as a stand-in for my own body: leaning on walls for support, relying on them with hindrance. Flowers become the most grandiose gesture of femininity. The repetition of flowers becomes a manic representation of myself, create new interpretations of gender. This space I occupy is sacred, this place is mine so I had, and I hide with humble effort. This place is unhinged, and I seek solitude. Through this, I hope to find absolution within myself.
