Advanced Fiber Studio (Highlights)
Precariously balanced between realms of fantasy and reality, science and fiction, my work examines how the psychological, scientific, and technological are connected to the beauties and mysteries of the natural world. I work with contrasting material I feel to be representative of the concept of the juxtaposition between the natural and superficial, and the hand and digitally crafted object.
The combination of physical materials such as vinyl, electrical tape, acrylic paint, paper, photographic material of natural matter, and both natural and synthetic fabrics are translated back and forth between hand and digital manipulation techniques to create images and immersive environments that can be aesthetically appealing and repulsive all at the same time.
