I collect other people’s memories and remove them from their own context. They are reconstructed into two and three dimensional fiber pieces and displayed in a white, sterile environment. The fiber photographs are a collection of examples of how humans interact with one another. Viewers are confronted with the awkward yet familiar imagery.
I hope that the viewer feels uncomfortable looking at the piece while not being able to look away. I hope that my work evokes a feeling of nostalgia and a desire to touch the piece through the materials used. Through this, the viewer can begin to think about why our culture follows the social conventions that it does, and why people seem to be uncomfortable in our own bodies.
