Advanced Fiber Studio (Highlights)
My work investigates life cycles, the passage of time, our bodies, consumption and waste. I search for answers to my ever-present questions through the use of different materials and techniques of making. Currently, I am using found objects to construct a hydroponic garden, supported by a hand woven fabric structure. The labor, time and energy required to create the woven structure become part of the life-giving cycle from which the garden is grown. I address ideas of growth and production, specifically within urban living and basic self-sustainability. Through the reuse of materials, I am able to re-assert new life into my work. In the act of making, I create a space to be present; as my mind floats afar, I am reminded that the current moment is most important.
