My work is inspired by histories and mythologies within and around my own life. Within broad and loosely defined narratives, scenes of death, loss, agony, and sorrow frequently manifest in some form in my art, rendered in contrasting, happy colors. My compositions are created intuitively as I draw until I find a point of resolution and identify a particular meaning or significance. In my process I access and draw from many contradicting and contrasting sources and experiences. My art is shaped by the same events, issues, and contexts that have shaped me as a person. I look at my work after it’s done to know what it is about, for me it does not need to have a clear message or narrative to be successful- as in my own life, I struggle to understand, make sense, and find meaning.
