My work—comprised of complex layers and collaged fragments of history—reflects the organic, yet spontaneous process of its creation. The separate pieces and materials that I begin with do not carry with them a predetermined solution or story; I simply trust that in my process, one mark always leads to the next. The various materials I use—each already so uniquely textured in themselves—take on new forms and features when layered and collaged upon another. I know that the piece has reached maturity, has grown to its fullest, when I am suddenly faced with the same dreamlike images that were once nestled so inconspicuously in my original urge to create.
