Advanced Fiber Studio (Highlights)
The imagined distance that separates public bodies prohibits intimacy with strangers and the world becomes limited to personal experience. From painting to public intervention, this work primarily explores relationships of proximity. Public interventions seek to stretch and challenge these notions in the spaces of public transit units, while painting provides a less direct approach. My painting attempts to conceal what we think we understand, so that the viewing experience becomes similar to how we observe and undress the personalities that peek through the anonymous clothing of public-ness. The ultimate purpose of these works is to promote an expansion of our private worlds to include an understanding of the strangers' worlds that we are assumed into through shared space.
