Childhood is potentially a terrifying time in a person's life. This is the time that fears and insecurities solidify and thus cultivate personal burdens. This is when we may create alternative worlds/ realities to help cope.
My recent work is semi-autobiographical, focusing on childhood. I make narrative illustrations and fibrous sculpture about growing up by presenting childhood failure, sadness, loneliness and escape. As children, some of us may have wanted to run away from home for different reasons. And some of us have.
