My work explores the idea of function versus non-function by using cloth in a sculptural capacity in conjunction with utilitarian objects. The incorporation of cloth renders these objects non-functional and gives them a sense of vulnerability and fragility. The use of tableware invokes an intimate, familial and cultural theme by using the dining experience and the ceremony of food to show how we have changed sociologically: fast food versus slow food. Emerging through the cloth, the silver flatware invokes a feeling of archeology and a civilization that has long been extinct.
