The objects of this practice are for individuals and the home, with environment in mind. To the best of my ability, each piece is made from reused materials. I don’t always see the need in buying brand new materials when there is an abundance of discarded or unwanted matter often within arm’s reach, why not reuse and upcycle them.
The intention with most of my work is to make something interactive, functional and utilitarian with minimal directions or guessing. Fluidity and intuitiveness of creating each object is translated into its finished form. To achieve this, the art object is something familiar, something personal and domestic e.g. - quilts, bags, fabric mends, framed embroideries. Reusing, repurposing and upcycling materials addresses environmental health while the interactive abilities of a piece allows for that work to have a life beyond its fabrication.
