Advanced Fiber Studio (Highlights)
My work revolves around disassembling and reconstructing echoes of the past into physical forms, taking inspirations from history, memories, relationships, emotions, the body and loss. These concepts are reimagined into objects. These objects are symbols of the past waiting to be reiterated and processed. My process of deconstructing objects that were once heavily associated with meaning, disempowers them and strips them of their association. The act of reassembling leaves the power to the creator and viewer. Turning the pattern of what was once a symbol back into a physical object allows for the demystification of that object and it’s meaning. By the end of my process, the memories and it’s meaning becomes transformed. There are constant explorations into various forms and techniques throughout my practice. My fondness of using fragile materials mirrors the ephemeral nature of memories and emotions, as well as the inconsistency of symbolic meaning.
