In my work I collect and appropriate mass disseminated codes from consumerism, advertising and historical emblems. These small bits of information come from consumer packaging, product encoding, mail, money, logos, phrases, flags, anything meant for quick, recognizable communication for the intended viewer. Icons are either cryptically designed for a specific audience or made to be easily recognized by a wide range of people. In sculptures affixing, binding, sewing these materials together by a means of their own support aims to draw attention to accumulation and a separate beauty when removed from their outlet mall shelf context. In these new contexts of material based sculptures, flags and banners, they attempt erode their power of exclusive or inclusive communication and question the basic function visual language.
